Centre International des Récollets
The Paris City Council’s Directorate for Cultural Affairs and the French Institute, which is under the jurisdiction of the French Foreign and European Affairs ministries and promotes French cultural events outside France, has been receiving foreign artists at the Centre International des Récollets (International Recollet Centre) since 2003.
There are three categories: Visual art, Literature, Theatrical Arts
The laureates are selected by a consultative committee, and are based on projects submitted by the laureate which the latter wishes to develop in Paris during the period of residence.
The project must take place in collaboration with a partner-institution, department, company, artist, or in collaboration with a qualified personality from the art world, who is already known in Paris and its environs. In general, all research projects have to be connected with Paris and its environs.
Laureates are received at one of the four workshops/studios, which have been specially allocated for this programme at the Recollet Convent (Couvent des Récollets) – a wonderful building in the centre of Paris on the Saint-Martin Canal, which has become a world-wide meeting place for artist and researchers since the renovation of the convent in 2003. Since the commencement of the programme, more than 180 artists and authors from more than 80 different countries around the world have had the opportunity to work at this residence.
- a stay of at least three consecutive months,
- the artist receives a monthly residential benefit of about 1,500 euro,
- the use of a workshop-studio 50 m2 in size.
