PROFESSIONAL TRAINING FOR TEACHERS
The seminar for the French language teachers, organized by the French Institute in Latvia, is a great opportunity for Latvian teachers to share their expertise with their peers and to discover new learning materials. The French Institute in Latvia also finances pedagogical internship in France for the French language teachers who work in the Latvian school and higher education system. Teachers also have the opportunity to participate in the summer university of the Bureau pour l'Enseignement de la Langue et de la Civilisation Françaises (Office for Teaching French Language and Civilization) that welcomes interns from all over the world.
RESOURCES AND SUPPORTING TOOLS AT THE SERVICE OF THE FRANCOPHONIE
Latvia is a part of IFprofs, a network dedicated for the teachers of the French language all over the world. The multimedia library of the French Institute in Latvia contains several thousand resources and thus offers a privileged access for those who study French language and culture. Thanks to the digital library of the French Institute in Paris “culturethèque”, the users of the multimedia library can also access multiple resources online. Finally, the Internet-platform IFcinéma offers a wide variety of cinematographic and learning materials available free of charge for the French language teachers of Latvia. These materials are intended to be used for educational purposes only, such as presentation or demonstration for the students during the lessons.
THE FRANCOPHONIE MONTH
The annual International Francophonie Month is a great opportunity to provide a rich cultural offer for all of those who speak French language as well as for amateurs of the French culture in Latvia. It is also an opportunity to organize various events intended to motivate or strengthen the desire to learn French language not only for adults, but especially for younger audiences. During that month, takes places the « Olympiades de français », organized by the Latvian Ministry of Education and Science and hosted by French Language Teachers Association in partnership with the French Embassy.Discover the face of the Latvian French-speaking community by watching this video. Currently, the main partner schools of the French Institute in Latvia are: Jules Verne Riga French School and Riga French Lycée. Jules Verne Riga French school is a partner school of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) and has been approved by the French Ministry of National Education and French Higher Education from kindergarten to grade 10. Since 2016, the Riga French Lycée has been granted the “LabelFrancÉducation” seal, awarded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs to schools promoting French language and culture as part of their specific curriculum.
