The French Embassy, French Institute in Latvia in cooperation with Riga City Hall and the Latvian Institute of Hydroecology, are organising a convivial evening focusing on climate and environmental issues. We will be welcoming the French schooner “Tara” to Andrejsala’s port with electro-experimental music on Wednesday 21st of June.

The Tara Ocean Foundation, France’s first foundation dedicated to the ocean to be officially recognised as promoting the public interest, is developing open, innovative and unprecedented science aimed at predicting and better anticipating the impact of climate change.

It uses this high-level scientific expertise and these sea voyages to raise awareness and educate young people and the public in general, to mobilise political decision makers at the highest level and to enable developing countries to access this new knowledge.

Its objective is to study the land-sea interface, where biodiversity meets numerous pollutions. During this expedition, the Tara Ocean Foundation schooner will cover the 25 52km of European coastline, an environment rich in biodiversity, industry, culture and heritage.
