FRENCH CLASSES

1.Is there a deadline to register to courses?

You can register to courses as long as there are open spots. If you’ve already taken classes and already have French knowledge, you can join a group which has already started, subject to vacancy spots.

2.What are the days and time of classes?

The courses’ schedules are published on the French Institute of Latvia’s website about one month prior. Classes are organized once or twice a week on business days, or once a week on Saturdays. During summer time, we offer intensive courses.

3.In which language is French taught?

Whenever it is possible, classes are taught in French.

4.How many students are there in a group?

Usually there are in between 7 and 12 students per group.

5.Do you teach French to kids under 4?

The French Institute’s classes are available for children aged 7 and up.

6.How can I register my kid to a French class?

The parent has to register his/her child to a class. At the time of registration, you will have to state the child’s name and surname, date of birth, as well as your (parent) email address and phone number.

7.Which French textbooks/manuals should I buy for the courses? Where can I buy them?

When you receive confirmation for the course, all needed information will be indicated. You can buy French textbooks/manuals either at the “Globuss” library on Valnu Street 26, or online at www.gramatnicaglobuss.lv. A 20% reduction will be applied for manuals and textbooks to French Institute’s students.

8.Where can I find the Zoom link for my course?

At the beginning of the session, you will receive in your mail inbox the Zoom link, which will stay the same until the end of the session. In case of any changes, a new email will be sent. If you lose the link to the classroom, please write to: kursi@institut-francais.lv

9.If I cannot attend my face-to-face class, could I follow it online?

If you decided to follow face-to-face classes but, exceptionally for one class, you wish to attend from your computer, please send an email to kursi@institut-francais.lv at least 2 business days in advance explaining why. Our services will then study your motivated request. If your request is approved, you will receive the link in an email.

11.How do I log in to the student profile?

When registered, your student account will be created onto the dedicated platform. If you have forgotten your password, please click on “Get my password”. You will receive an email with a link allowing you to create/renew your access.

 

MULTIMEDIA LIBRARY

  • What are the opening hours of the Multimedia library?

    The library is open to public from Tuesday to Saturday. To see our opening hours, please follow this link.

  • How can I get the Multimedia library card?

    You can purchase the Multimedia library card on site at the Multimedia library, cash-only. You can also purchase it online on the Multimedia library website by following this link.

FRENCH INSTITUTE

  • Where is it located?

The French Institute in Latvia is located at Raina boulevard 9, in Riga. The Institute is located next to the French Embassy in Latvia.

  • Where can I park my car?

The French Institute does not offer parking spots. The closest parking lots to the Institute can be found at the following addresses: Raiņa bulvāris 11, Z. A. Meierovica bulv. 8, Kr. Valdemāra iela 5A, Reimersa iela, Kronvalda bulvāris.

  • Where can I park my bike or scooter?

The French Institute does not have a bike station. We invite you to use the closest bike station, a couple of meters, at the corner of boulevards Brivibas and Raina.

  • What events do you organize?
