The French Institute’s médiathèque – a place for all lovers of the French and francophone culture in Rīga to meet and exchange ideas and knowledge.

The médiathèque collection contains more than 14,000 documents in paper and digital format, offering visitors to the mediateque a wide range of films, music, contemporary and classical literature as well as a choice of French language learning materials.
Readers have a broad collection of press publications available to them, allowing them to follow current political, cultural and international events.

The choice of digital services offered by the mediateque includes the opportunity to use computers, the WiFi network, tablets, or to view a number of French TV channels and films in the French language from the médiathèque’s collection.

The médiathèque is freely available to everyone and offers events for all age groups and for all levels of knowledge of the French language.

A special place has been set aside for children – a carpeted corner with toys, and entertaining and educational books. In addition, once a month children are invited to take part in the Wednesday story afternoon. In spring, as part of Francophonia Day, the médiathèque invites young people to take part in poetry readings.

Médiathèque employees will help you with regard to registering, and will provide consultations or advice about your queries.
